Jon Snow (Aegon Targaryen)
Ex-Commander of the Night's Watch, Former King in the North, Bastard of Winterfell, rightful heir to the Iron Throne
This guy should've ended up as king and killed the Night King but due to creative differences (read: incompetent writers) he ended up in exile in the Night's Watch once again.
This is from the Game of Thrones Wiki:
Jon Snow, born Aegon Targaryen, is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, the late Prince of Dragonstone. From infancy, Jon is presented as the bastard son of Lord Eddard Stark, Lyanna's brother, and raised alongside his lawful children at Winterfell, the seat of House Stark. However, his true parentage is kept secret from everyone, including Jon himself, in order to protect him from those that sought the complete annihilation of House Targaryen after Robert's Rebellion and to maintain order in the realm.
In order to escape his bastard status, Jon joins the Night's Watch and is eventually chosen as Lord Commander. However, he is later murdered in a mutiny due to his sympathy for the Free Folk. Using the power of R'hllor, Jon is resurrected by the Red Priestess Melisandre at the behest of Ser Davos Seaworth. Freed from his Night's Watch vows, Jon joins his "half-sister," Sansa Stark, in building an army and together they retake Winterfell from House Bolton at the Battle of the Bastards, restoring House Stark's dominion over the North. Following the execution of Ramsay Bolton, Jon is declared King in the North.
When the war for Westeros begins, Jon negotiates with Daenerys Targaryen, Rhaegar's sister, to secure her support against the White Walkers, her dragons and abundance of obsidian on her military base of Dragonstone providing a distinct advantage in the Great War. After successfully capturing a wight and presenting it to Queen Cersei Lannister as proof that the army of the dead is real, Jon pledges himself and his army to Daenerys, whom he falls in love with, subsequently abdicating and being named Warden of the North.
Jon returns to Winterfell with Daenerys and the Targaryen forces, reuniting with his "half-siblings" Arya and Bran Stark, who discovers his true parentage. After his lineage is revealed to him by Samwell Tarly, he fights in the Battle of Winterfell, during which the Night King is defeated and the return of the Long Night is prevented. Afterwards, Jon aids Daenerys in her resumed campaign to take the Iron Throne and partakes in the Battle of King's Landing. However, when Daenerys lays waste to a surrendered King's Landing, Jon attempts, but fails, to prevent his men from sacking the city. Unable to dissuade Daenerys from this path, Jon reluctantly assassinates her to prevent further carnage, and is taken prisoner by the Unsullied. Following the Great Council of 305 AC, Bran, who is elected as King of the Six Kingdoms, negotiates with the Targaryen allies, and Jon is ultimately sent into exile as a compromise, returning to the Night's Watch for regicide.
After receiving a heartfelt welcome upon his return, he travels north of the Wall with Ghost and Tormund, leading the remaining Free Folk to settle in the thawing free lands.
Daenerys Targaryen
Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regent of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons
She was my favorite character until she became the Mad Queen due to some more "creative differences" but she was destined to become one of the best rulers Westeros has ever seen.
This is from the Game of Thrones Wiki:
Queen Daenerys I Targaryen, also known as Dany and Daenerys Stormborn, was the younger sister of Rhaegar Targaryen and Viserys Targaryen and only daughter of King Aerys II Targaryen and Queen Rhaella Targaryen, who were both ousted from the Iron Throne during Robert Baratheon's rebellion. She also served a brief tenure as the de facto Queen of the Andals and the First Men and the twenty-first ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, after claiming the throne from her predecessor Cersei I Lannister, who was killed in the Battle of King's Landing. However, Daenerys was never formally crowned, nor did she sit upon the Iron Throne. Upon her destruction of a surrendered King's Landing, Daenerys was assassinated by Jon Snow to prevent further carnage. She was eventually succeeded several weeks later by Bran Stark (an elective monarch chosen by the Great Council).
After the respective deaths of her remaining brother, Viserys, and husband Khal Drogo, Daenerys builds up her own base of power in Essos, where she hatches three dragons, is joined by prominent advisers including Ser Jorah Mormont and Tyrion Lannister, liberates the slaves of Slaver's Bay, gains the Unsullied, and unites the Dothraki. Following the War of the Five Kings, Daenerys rules Meereen for a period of time before sailing to Westeros to begin her war to take the Seven Kingdoms with her followers and allies to claim the Iron Throne from Cersei Lannister.
During her campaign, Daenerys negotiated with Jon Snow, the King in the North, who sought her help against the returned White Walkers, a threat seeking to wipe out all of humanity. The two became allies after Daenerys's allies in the Reach and Dorne had been destroyed by House Lannister's forces. After striking back, she agreed to parley with Cersei in King's Landing to negotiate temporary truce while they fight the army of the dead. To that end, she allowed Jon Snow to venture beyond the Wall to capture a wight as proof to provide for Cersei. Daenerys rescues Jon's men when they are encircled by the army of the dead, though one of her dragons is slain by the Night King. Following the attack, Jon pledges allegiance to Daenerys, before presenting the wight before Cersei, who agrees to a truce. Daenerys then sails north with Jon, putting her quest for the Iron Throne on hold in order to fight in the Great War; the two give in to their love during the voyage, unknown that they are in fact related, as Jon is secretly Daenerys's nephew: the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna Stark. Soon after arriving at Winterfell, she and Jon discover the truth of his parentage, before fighting for the north at the Battle of Winterfell, her forces contributing significantly to the survival and victory of the living.
Having always flirted dangerously close to the famed "Targaryen madness" of her ancestors, Daenerys is driven further to the brink by the terrible losses inflicted on her in the closing stages of the wars; Tyrion's plans backfiring on her on several occasions, the deaths of two of her dragons along with Ser Jorah and Missandei, Jon's inability to reciprocate her romantic affection due to their blood relation, and discovering Varys is plotting to replace her shatter her already fragile sanity. Daenerys embarks on a devastating campaign of revenge in which she lays waste to King’s Landing from atop Drogon after the city's surrender, allowing her Dothraki and Unsullied to massacre the city’s (mostly innocent) inhabitants. Upon her ascension, she announces that she intends to "liberate" the world, supposedly be killing all those who are an obstacle to her Utopian vision. As a result of this, Jon reluctantly assassinates Daenerys, after which Drogon takes her body and flies away with her to his native east.
